Dealer Domino Effect Increases Revenue
Missing Link
Moving Help exposes a New Mexico business to more customers
LOS LUNAS, N.M. - David and Blu Seville’s Manzano View Plaza and U-Haul Dealership (012416) features a wide variety of businesses: a storage facility, a laundromat, a video game arcade, a thrift store, full service RV Park, notary/mail/copy services, propane and firewood sales and much more. However, the father-son team admits that their vision for the three-plus acre strip mall they own wasn’t complete until they added the U-Haul Dealership and joined the Moving Help marketplace.
The Sevilles joined Team U-Haul in February 2008, then launched their Moving Help business, MVP Moving Labor, in June after Senior Area Field Manager (AFM) James Prato, UHC of New Mexico (724-002), laid out all of the benefits of the program.
“James showed us there were about seven thousand job requests in our area that weren’t accepted because there weren’t enough Moving Helpers to accept them,” Blu explained. “I knew the amount of money we could make was breathtaking, so we signed up to be Moving Helpers the next day.
“The growth has been amazing!” Blu exclaimed. “We had about 70 jobs in the first 90 days. My dad’s been an entrepreneur for more than 40 years, and he’s never seen anything grow so fast.”
“The domino effect”
The Sevilles have big ambitions for their Manzano View development project, and they see U-Haul and Moving Help as focal points of their vision.
“They’re in a fairly remote location,” Prato pointed out. “Moving Help has opened them up to a bigger customer base and exposed them to people all over New Mexico.”
“We have a steady flow of cash coming in daily from Moving Help,” David emphasized. “People are floored when they find out how affordable the service is. We work with a lot of college students and elderly people who hire MVP Moving Labor, rent U-Haul equipment and buy boxes from us.”
“We’ve earned several new storage room rentals from customers who found out about us through MVP Moving Labor,” Blu added. “A lot of our jobs are in Albuquerque or Los Lunas, which are the nearest towns. Many of those customers would have never found out about our other businesses if it weren’t for Moving Help.”
“Also,” David noted, “people who are in here before or after a move often buy sodas and hot dogs from our snack bar, or they’ll play a few games in our arcade. I call that the domino effect, where every business feeds the other".
Limitless potential
“Anything with the U-Haul name associated with it has instant credibility,” David proclaimed. “For example, people may be hesitant to allow movers into their homes to handle their precious belongings, but because Moving Help is backed by the U-Haul name, people know they can trust us. The potential of Moving Help is almost limitless. I liken it to the PC in terms of how it can revolutionize the industry.”
Moving Help has jumpstarted David and Blu Seville’s business across the board by earning them new customers and increasing revenue for their primary businesses and their U-Haul Dealership.
